AWS Well-Architected Framework review
A structured review of your AWS workloads against the six pillars of the AWS Well-Architected Framework. Hamer Technical does not resell AWS or any tooling, so the findings are not shaped by what could be sold to you afterwards.
Who it is for
This is for CTOs, heads of platform and engineering managers who run production workloads on AWS and want an outside view before a scaling event, an audit, a funding round or a renewal of commitments.
What gets reviewed
- Operational excellence, including deployment practice, observability and incident response.
- Security, including identity, network boundaries, encryption, logging and detection.
- Reliability, including failure modes, backups, recovery objectives and multi-AZ design.
- Performance efficiency, including compute, storage and database selection.
- Cost optimisation, including right-sizing, commitments and waste.
- Sustainability, including utilisation and resource lifecycle.
What you get
- Findings for each pillar, ranked by risk and by effort to fix.
- A remediation plan split into quick wins and larger pieces of work.
- Evidence gathered from your accounts with read-only access, and not from a questionnaire alone.
- A walkthrough session with your engineers.
- Optional hands-on help to carry out the remediation.
How it runs
The review combines workshops with your engineers and a read-only inspection of the accounts. A single workload usually takes about a week. Larger estates are reviewed one workload at a time so that findings arrive early.
Hamer Technical is an independent consultancy and is not a member of the AWS Well-Architected Partner Program. The review uses the public AWS Well-Architected Framework as its reference.
Common questions
What is an AWS Well-Architected review?
It is a structured assessment of a workload against the AWS Well-Architected Framework, which describes good practice across operational excellence, security, reliability, performance efficiency, cost optimisation and sustainability. The result is a ranked list of risks and a plan to address them.
Why use an independent reviewer?
A reviewer who does not resell cloud services, licences or managed services has no commercial interest in the findings. The recommendations are limited to what your workload needs.
Do you need write access to our AWS accounts?
No. The review uses a read-only IAM role that you create and control. The role is removed when the review ends.
